Dyan Bruneau

Dyan Bruneau is a Fine Art Thread Painter. She was born and raised in Gulfport, Mississippi.

She comes from a family tree of artists, starting with her great uncle, Carl Hennig, who was a New York Newspaper cartoonist. She also have many cousins who do iron art. Her second cousin, Iva Childers, also lives on the Coast and is a wonderful artist as well. Her beautiful granddaughter is following in the footsteps of all these gifted people and may very well be the best of all in the future.

Dyan has painted for many years, but due to some surgeries she had, at one point she was unable to drag out easels and paints. But the creative juices were flowing, nevertheless. She had a dream one night and in that dream she saw a palette - one with dabs of paint and the other with dabs of thread. When she awoke, she set out to find the fine threads she loved to collect but never got around to using. She first experimented with different types of fabric, until she came up with one that was sturdy yet easy to use with needle and thread.

Her work starts at $975. If you have questions or would like to know about commission work, e-mail Dyan at Dyneau@aol.com.

Artist's Statement

"I love beauty and have always felt joy in just watching the different color changes of a tree or even a puppy. Some pieces may take me as long as three or four months. I want to get every bit of color right and the emotion that I want the piece to say to the person looking at it. Sometimes, I get so involved in a piece and I am striving for my own perfection, the piece seems to call me to constantly perfect it, I may work on it for hours on end. Each piece I have done is a part of me. I have never felt so connected to any of my art before I started the Fine Art Thread Painting."
